Hey! You’re here. Thank you.
I had so much fun scheming about summer reading plans last week. One thing I love in this world is making little lists of books I want to read. If you are reading this, I imagine you might feel the same way.
Other things I’m scheming about this summer: drinking more iced coffee than is healthy, porch reading, watching the WNBA, thinking about the WNBA, consuming WNBA related content… you get the idea. I hear the MNBA is still in season but that is simply not my ministry.
As you can see I have big plans this summer. What about you?
Here’s a little round up of what kept me going in May.
Favorite Read
Playing a tiny role in bringing this book into the world has been one of the greatest joys of my reading life. I’m just happy to be here.
My Dad is reading it right now and yesterday he texted me - “col (crying-out-loud)” and you know what he is right. COL COL COL COL COL.
If you are reading this book, please be like my Dad and tell me how it’s going for you.
Crying out loud forever.
One Bright Glimmer
It’s porch reading season! My glimmer this month was sitting on the porch in the evening with Rebecca. Reading our books, watching the birds and the squirrels and the chipmunks - that’s the whole ball game for me.
I think we need to get Rebecca back on the newsletter for a reading update, who’s with me?
Book I’m Looking Forward To:
I highlighted some new releases in my little summer reading guide last week.
Another one that piqued my interest is this new lesbian vampire novel from V.E. Schwab. I think my interest here is pretty self-evident…
If you ask me, nothing says summer reading like some sapphic vampire shenanigans. This one comes out on June 10th. Tell me if you’ve heard anything about this one and if you plan to pick it up!
Biggest Surprise:

This month marked ten years since I graduated from college. Ten years ago this was a surprise because I was fully convinced I was about to fail statistics and thus would not graduate. Reader, she did it! And in the years since she has also 1) forgotten everything she learned in statistics and 2) had lots of good therapy/medication for that anxiety/catastrophizing … col col.
I hardly recognize that human, but I do love her. She would be surprised to learn that in ten years she will be working at the cluttered, beloved bookstore right down the road.
Imagine trying to explain Yaya and Dunkin to her!
Anyway, time is weird. I’m so grateful to be where I am and I hope I can continue to have grace for the girl in that picture.
I’m Still Learning:
Some days are heaven and some days are hard as hell and I’m still learning to move through both.
The kindness and generosity with which y’all received my story earlier this month knocked me out. It’s hard to be a human in this world and your open arms are a mercy.
I only hope I can pack up that kindness and bring it with me into my little world.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for talking about books and dogs and basketball and grief with me.
I’m also still learning to take a family selfie where Yaya doesn’t look like an innocent older woman held captive by two eager gay moms and one morbidly anxious brother. Oh well. She loves us, I promise.
I’m so glad you’re here.
Love,
Rosamond
I hadn't heard of your best read for the month, but when I googled it, I saw Oprah had picked it for her book club pick. I love that Oprah is inspiring your reading life. So great!
Iced coffee and porch reading, let’s GO. 🙌🏼
