A Poem
"Little Dog's Rhapsody in the Night" by Mary Oliver
Hey! You’re here. Thank you.
We are going through it over here. Our girl, Yaya, is doing poorly, and it feels like our world world is collapsed into her tiny eight-pound body.
There aren’t any words that make it better, but Mary Oliver still knows what to say. Today, all I have to offer is this little poem from Dog Songs.
Little Dog’s Rhapsody in the Night
by Mary Oliver
He puts his cheek against mine
and makes small, expressive sounds.
And when I'm awake or awake enough
he turns upside down, his four paws
in the air
and his eyes, dark and fervent.
"Tell me you love me," he says.
"Tell me again."
Could there be a sweeter arrangement? Over and over
he gets to ask.
I get to tell. There is no sweeter arrangement.
We love you.
Be good to yourself today, and give a dog a treat if you can.
Love,
Rosamond
